Most floors simply need to support your feet while you're walking around. But what if floors could be more than that? Printable floor graphic media has a variety of uses from advertising potential to increasing slip-resistance. Depending on what kind of flooring you have in place and what you want to do with it, there are several floor graphic material types available.
1. Textured anti-slip laminate
When you laminate custom floor graphics, there's always the risk that the laminate will obscure fine details. Promotional grade laminating film is made to reduce this problem. It's secure and durable enough to keep charts, arrows, advertisements and displays safe, but thin enough to allow the fine print to show through. Laminating films for floor graphics can be secured to promotional materials and then stuck wherever needed. They are ideal for countertop displays and walls as well as semi-permanent floor graphics. Textured anti-slip laminate meets non-slip criteria and is durable enough for outdoor displays as well.
2. Pro-floor non-slip vinyl
Not all floor graphic vinyl material is ideal for rough surfaces like carpet and pavement, but the textured surface and excellent composition of Pro-Floor vinyl work together to create the ideal vinyl to stick anywhere. This one rates very high in slip-resistance tests and is a great solution in areas where snow and water tend to get in and create dangerously slippery floors. It sticks firmly and lasts up to two years even under heavy traffic, but when it's time to move to a new floor graphic, this one comes off without leaving residue. It works with latex, solvent, eco-solvent, and UV printing, and no lamination is required. Because of its firm grip, it can be used on walls and even ceilings, where it holds fast despite any existing texture. It's not as transparent as other thinner materials, but it's perfect for directional arrows, aisle markers, custom floor mats, and safety indicators.
3. BILD printable flooring
For many, BILD is synonymous with permanent flooring solutions. It offers flooring in a variety of textures for printing, including wood, ceramic, and even some novelty styles like coin or bubbles. It is thicker than many of its counterparts and can be used for non slip floor graphics / anti-slip floor graphics. It has high durability because it's made of solid polyvinyl with no lightweight fillers. Although it isn't the ideal graphic material to carry around due to its weight, it's frequently used in long-term installations in places like showrooms, gymnasiums, museums, and restaurants. The printed material is sandwiched between two protective layers to increase durability. It can be picked up and moved, but it naturally adheres without glue. It resists tearing, chemicals and water while remaining anti-slip. It can be placed on most kinds of flooring, although it adheres better to smooth surfaces.
4. Endutex print floor
This floor graphic material is made of PVC-coated polyester woven fabric. It supports vibrant colours and detailed designs, making it ideal for promotional floor graphics as well as for adding aesthetic flair for theatre and fashion shows. It uses natural static to adhere to floors, making it slip-resistant but removable without damaging the underlying flooring. It works best on smooth floors such as hardwood, vinyl, or smooth cement, but it can handle some rough textures. It is lightweight, so it can be printed in large sizes suitable for showrooms or exhibition halls. It is also conveniently fire retardant and lays flat to reduce tripping hazards.
When you're ready to invest in custom graphics for your floor, these are the top factors to consider.
- Clarity: Do you need to be able to see fine details through the coating?
- Durability: How long are you hoping your floor graphic will last?
- Weight: Will you be carrying the floor graphics around?
- Adherence: Will glue residue be a problem?
- Mobility: How often will you want to move the graphic?
- Texture: How important is slip-resistance?
- Resistance: Will the graphic be exposed to harsh elements like sunlight or chemical spills?
