Description
Coolshade is a commercial grade shade cloth fabric made from HDPE monofilament and tape filament. It has high tensile strength, reduces heat and glare by up to 95% and is resistant to mould and mildew. Available in 12 modern colours with a 12-year warranty, Coolshade is also 100% recyclable.
Ferroshade is made with a knitted HDPE monofilament yarn giving it strength and durability. It also provides wind resistance, so it’s the perfect option for large scale shade sails where you need protection from all the elements. Ferroshade is available in 10 high-coverage colours with a 15-year warranty.

After 15 years protecting patrons of the Broadbeach Bowling Club on the Gold Coast, owners Barry and Colleen Gilbert knew it was time for an upgrade.
They wanted a series of outdoor shades which had the look and feel of waves, allowing them to fit in with the nearby coastline. Some of the shades needed to be retractable to allow the sun on the green while not blocking the view from the clubhouse when extended. Most of all, the entire shade structure had to be pretty, functional and long-lasting.
Local provider Shadex Industries were selected for the project. They opted for Coolshade fabric - designed, engineered and certified in Australia and sourced from Ricky Richards. With a high UV rating of 94% and a seven-year shade warranty, this would ensure as high a UV rating as possible – essential when considering the hot and sunny Gold Coast conditions.
A total of 102 canopies and 124 posts were installed by Shadex, who worked closely with Tim of Edge Consulting Engineers, Rick from Aspect Awnings and Russell at Coastal Powder Coating to produce the shade canopies on time. The result is a series of highly functional and protective shade covers with a look that bowls everyone over.
